COVID 19-HUB with Watson & IBM Cloud - March-May 2020
Situation & Task
In March 2020, as COVID-19 spread rapidly and misinformation surged, people urgently needed a reliable source of real-time, localized information. I was tasked to lead a nimble pop-up squad to design and launch a COVID-19 Hub, an interactive platform delivering trusted, evidence-based updates to millions of users.
Key Challenges
Information Chaos
Speed To Market
Alignment Across The Org (TWC + IBM Data + IBM Watson + Mapbox)
Lockdown Disruptions

My Role
This project showcased design leadership under pressure, balancing speed, empathy, and human-centered thinking to deliver impactful solutions when they mattered most.
Solution
With high stakes and an urgent timeline, we implemented a phased, user-centered approach that balanced speed, accuracy, and evolving data availability.

Outcome
The COVID-19 Hub became a critical, go-to resource for millions during the pandemic.
Key Results
3.8M
Average daily users.
1.97M+
Visits in the first weeks post-launch.
1.5M
Questions were answered via the IBM Watson chatbot.

Beyond the metrics, the impact was deeply personal. Users expressed gratitude for the clarity and accessibility of the data—one even calling our team “heroes” for making trusted information available in a time of crisis.
“No questions; just a thank you from the bottom of my heart. The data is easy to read and easy to understand, and it represents our local/state data as accurately as possible. Priceless. Wish our State heat map did the same but that’s not on you. SUPER job! You’re our heroes, too! Keep doing what you do. Stay well and stay safe.”
